These images show how the Humminbird XTM 9 DI 25 T makes contact with the mount for the Minn Kota Edge bow mount trolling motor. Labels under the images will try to describe the position of the transducer in relation to the motor and it’s mount. The transducer mounting ear on the bottom broke off and so I had to hold it with my hand to show the normal unbroken position.
The fix was tested today (07/7/2015) and happily worked. It involved Humminbird replacing the transducer with a XNT 9 DI T and me buying a TM-DI-2 Transducer Shield from Product Innovations Inc www.transducershieldandsaver.com I’ll add a image of the fix to the slideshow.
The Minn Kota Edge is locked down ready for travel. The Humminbird XTM 9 DI 25 T has two ears that the clamp goes through to hold it on and the bottom ear is broken.
There is only a small gap between the transducer and the Minn Kota Edge mount and the motor has not even started to deploy.
The next slide will show how the transducer already makes contact with the TM mount at this low angle.
This is the point of contact that broke the transducer support. The transducer was invoiced on March 15, 2015. As I used it I didn’t know how much stress was on it until it broke. It happened on June 5, 2015.
The next image shows how it might look with the transducer moved toward the prop.
In this position it makes contact also, but the transducer is crowding the prop. Any kind of water plants would now have a place to jam up between the prop and the transducer.
This combination works and the DI also works which wasn’t the case with the XTM 9 DI 25 T.
